About Us

AVSED stands for ‘Aireborough Voluntary Services to the Elderly.’ We are an independent registered charity which was founded in Yeadon, Leeds in 1992. AVSED was started by a group of local people in Yeadon who saw the desperate need for activities to help older people who were already, or at risk of loneliness and social isolation. From small beginnings we have grown to the thriving local community group you see today.
We moved from small offices at Suffolk Court Residential home in Yeadon, to Nunroyd Pavilion (also known as Green Lane Cricket Club) in September 2016. We received funding to build an office on the mezzanine floor and we hold all our venue based activities in the hall downstairs so it really is an AVSED ‘hub’.
